Job Description

Formulation Scientist (two-year contract)

Are you a passionate and skilled Formulation Scientist looking to make an impact in an innovative environment? Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to join their team on a temporary basis. Key Responsibilities:

As a Formulation Scientist, you will:

  • Plan and implement formulation development work programmes within a defined scope.
  • Contribute to the design of formulations for both new and existing active ingredients.
  • Collaborate with the team leader to define formulation development inputs for multi-functional project teams.
  • Engage directly with other functions to coordinate project outputs, including glasshouse screening, analytical, and biokinetics, all with the support of your team leader.
  • Provide technical problem-solving assistance on formulation to various interfacing functions, such as global supply, manufacturing, marketing, and sales, while prioritising safety (HSE) at all times.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of and alignment with organisational values and standards.

  • Experience in planning, setting up, and performing experiments.
  • Awareness of the formulation development process and the use of formulated products.
  • Familiarity with the significance of intellectual property.
  • The ability to participate in formulation discussions with contractors or suppliers, working under a degree of supervision.

Technical Capabilities:

  • Experience in a laboratory environment, with some background in formulation design and preparation.
  • Knowledge of how laboratory work translates to larger-scale manufacturing and end-use applications.
  • Skills in interpreting experimental data and preparing technical reports and presentations.
  • A scientific and logical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to generate and communicate innovative ideas.

Education:

  • A first degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is essential.
  • Alternatively, relevant work experience in a similar role (ideally 3 years or more) with some formal qualification or training is acceptable.
