Finance Manager (Technical accounting)

Job Title: Finance Manager Location: Welwyn Garden City (Hybrid working arrangement)
Rate: £500 per day inside IR35 via Umbrella
Contract Type: 12 months

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Finance Manager to join the Group Technical Accounting team of a leading global retailer. This role supports the Head of Technical Accounting in Group Finance and is perfect for someone looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Role Overview:
As a Finance Manager, you will provide expert technical accounting advice to management and finance teams across the Group. You will be involved in complex and high-profile transactions, manage the impact of new accounting standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical accounting advice to management and finance teams on complex and material transactions.
• Prepare and review accounting papers supporting the accounting for key transactions, explaining complex issues clearly and concisely.
• Monitor, analyse, and assess the impact of new accounting standards, amendments, and interpretations.
• Continuously improve the organisation's accounting policies manual.
• Design and present training webcasts on new accounting developments and topical issues.
• Support the preparation and review of the organisation's annual and interim accounts, making suggestions for disclosure improvements.

Qualifications and skills:

• Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Excellent knowledge of IFRS and its application to real-life situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with great attention to detail.
• Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly.
• Confidence to challenge and question in order to find the right answer.
• Audit background and experience working in a complex and fast-paced organisation.
