Charity People are delighted to be supporting the UK's leading charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste, to recruit an Events Manager.
By redistributing surplus food to frontline charities, the charity harnesses the power of food to change lives and strengthen communities. Their work tackles hunger, but they don't just feed people. The charity ensures good food reaches those who need it most, helping people thrive while reducing food waste and protecting the planet.
The Events Manager will be responsible for delivering all the charity's events, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and delivering maximum impact. This includes fundraising and high-donor events, joint partner events, internal staff events, and political stakeholder engagements. The post-holder will be pivotal in enhancing the charity's profile, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and showcasing the organisation's mission and impact. Additionally, the role will involve stewarding relationships with celebrity supporters and ambassadors, particularly where they intersect with the charity's events.
Key responsibilities
- Event Planning and Delivery: Plan, manage and execute a diverse portfolio of events, including leading on all logistical aspects of event delivery, creating detailed project plans, and coordinating celebrity involvement to enhance event visibility and impact. Manage the budget and evaluate the success of events against objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate and act as the primary point of contact with key internal teams and external stakeholders, including celebrity ambassadors, to ensure events meet organisational objectives and are impactful and memorable.
- Marketing and Promotion: Work with internal teams to develop and oversee marketing campaigns which promote events and ensure maximum visibility and engagement from target audiences.
- Innovation and Development: Stay informed about trends and best practices in event management to continuously improve events, propose innovative ideas to enhance the impact and engagement, and explore and recommend enhanced celebrity or influencer engagement opportunities to support event objectives.
Person specification
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience planning, organising, and delivering high-quality events, including corporate engagements, fundraising galas, and political stakeholder events.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Experience working with various stakeholders, including corporate partners, donors, and internal teams.
- Experience liaising with celebrities or high-profile ambassadors, coordinating their involvement in events and marketing activities.
- Demonstrated success in delivering fundraising events that have raised significant funds, ideally in the five to six-figure range.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create compelling event materials and liaise with stakeholders effectively.
- Demonstrable experience managing event budgets and ensuring cost efficiency.
- Proficiency in event management software, project management tools, and digital platforms for virtual or hybrid events.
- Understanding of legal and ethical issues related to fundraising and event management.
The Events Manager will be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, a creative thinker with the ability to develop engaging event concepts and a collaborative team player with a proactive and adaptable approach. You will have a passion for social impact and the charity's mission to fight hunger and reduce food waste, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
