Your new roleEstimator:As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a range of construction projects, from car park renovations to window replacements, in collaboration with the Scottish council. Your primary duties will include:

  • Reviewing project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation to identify all necessary materials, labour, and equipment required.
  • Researching and obtaining competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Calculating material quantities, labour hours, and equipment usage to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Presenting detailed cost breakdowns and proposals to the client.
  • Participating in project meetings and providing ongoing support throughout the tendering and bidding process.
  • Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and suggesting alternative solutions.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a construction Estimator, preferably within the public sector or local government.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel, Sage, Buildsoft).
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex information to clients.
  • Familiarity with Scottish construction regulations and procurement processes.
