Role description:

The Engineering Director is responsible for leading the engineering team and overseeing all delivery aspects of product development. This role involves strategic planning, talent management, and ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects. The director will collaborate with product management and UX to align engineering efforts with business goals, and drive innovation, and maintain high standards of quality and performance together with the Chief Software Architect. Key responsibilities include managing engineering processes, mentoring team members, global standardization, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

The role sits within our global business area Digital Intelligence. We use digital intelligence and deep human knowledge to create products and solutions in a holistic way. We empower our clients with agile, data-driven insights and technologies that complement our sustainable design, engineering and advisory expertise. We can confidently work in partnership to address global challenges from climate change and rapid urbanization, to increasing digitalization, socio-economic disruption and societal expectations head-on, all with the common goal of improving quality of life.

Role accountabilities:

  • Leading and mentoring the global customer-facing engineering team. Overseeing the entire global client-facing engineering team, including hiring, training, (performance) managing engineering teams, and (process) standardization.

  • Resource management. Managing engineering budget and allocation of resources across teams, including hubs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration. Working closely with Tech to ensure strategic alignment on corporate goals, strategies, and ways of working.

  • Driving software innovation and quality. Driving innovation by staying current with technological trends and emerging technologies. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality to our customers.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 8+ year's experience leading high-performance global software engineering teams of 50+ engineers

  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies and technologies.

  • Experience managing software engineering budgets and resource allocation for engineering teams spanning multiple customer-facing digital products.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
