What's involved with this role: Interim Employee Relations Casework Officer - Human ResourcesJob Ref: GLA 0009 8DEE / 1Pay Rate: £20.70 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hoursRole Length: This opening assignment is for 5-6 months City: LondonBasic DBS disclosure required for this roleHybrid working - 2 days in the officeThe purpose of the role is to provide an effective, high quality People Function service, advising on a range of employee relation issues, advising on ER casework and activity that supports the aims and objectives.Candidates must have experience of advising on a range of ER cases (probation, disciplinary, capability, resolution, and sickness absence). Also, minute taking skills and experience is essential for this role.Key Responsibilities:
- Work as part of an Employee Relations (ER) Casework team to support managers and colleagues across a range of activity providing assistance with the team's work as required, including monitoring team's inbox and providing a first line of response.
- Advising and supporting line managers with first level ER casework including sickness absence, disciplinary, resolution, capability and probation cases.
- Proactively monitoring and managing data that is provided to the ER Casework team such as sickness absence reports and end of Fixed Term Contract information, taking forward tasks where applicable and highlighting to ER Casework Advisers where action is required on complex casework.
- Be the main point of contact between the ER Casework Team and the TfL Pay Team, following up queries where necessary and ensuring that the TfL Pay Team have all the required information relating the Employee Relations work that impacts on pay, such as sickness absence.
- Support the ER Casework Team on setting up formal meetings, preparing letter templates, attending formal meetings, taking notes at formal meetings.
- Work alongside ER Casework Advisers to coordinate the occupational health referral process, supporting managers to produce comprehensive referral documents, co-ordinating standard occupational health outcome report recommendations such as workstation assessments, stress risk assessments, etc.
- Support the ER Casework Team with workplace adjustments activity, arranging specialist referrals, obtaining PO numbers and updating relevant trackers.

- Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
- Casework experience within Employee Relations and knowledge of employment law and best practice.
- Experience maintaining and updating information on HR Information Systems and setting up and using excel trackers.
- Experience monitoring end of fixed term contracts, sickness absence data, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures
- Ability to organise occupational health referrals and contributing to absence management
- Experience organising and taking minutes at discipline and grievance hearings.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
