EMEA Compliance Officer

Are you passionate about regulatory compliance, sustainability, and risk management? Do you want to play a key role in ensuring compliance with EU regulations, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting requirements? We are looking for a Compliance Officer to join our Regulatory Product Compliance team, supporting EMEA operations and integrating compliance responsibilities into financial planning and risk management.
About the Role:
As a Compliance Officer, you will research and report on relevant EU regulations, assess their impact on business operations, and work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure regulatory compliance. You will serve as the primary EMEA contact for regulatory assessments, vendor compliance, and ESG reporting, collaborating with stakeholders across finance, merchandising, marketing, IT, and HR.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Research and report on EU laws, regulations, and certifications related to apparel, PPE, ESG, sustainability, and product safety.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on regulatory requirements, ensuring alignment with compliance processes.
Oversee the execution of Declarations of Conformity and other certification documentation.
Manage vendor compliance requests, contracts, and customer manual approvals in collaboration with the legal team.
Support ESG-related reporting and compliance, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) filings and sustainability initiatives.
Review and approve local packaging, labeling, and marketing claims in collaboration with regional teams.
Audit & Compliance Monitoring
Serve as the main contact for external audits and compliance assessments in the EMEA region.
Develop and manage policies and processes related to regulatory product compliance.
Oversee certification testing and risk assessments for EMEA product lines.
Monitor social media and online complaints related to product safety and compliance concerns.
Support the compliance team in developing policies for corporate sustainability reporting, product traceability, and circular economy regulations.
Legal & Data Privacy (GDPR) Support
Assist in managing GDPR-related compliance, including data subject requests, impact assessments, and internal audits.
Provide guidance on compliance risk management, covering client integrity, data protection, and corporate governance.
Maintain and update compliance policies, including whistleblowing procedures, integrity guidelines, and data protection frameworks.
Conduct compliance risk assessments and internal investigations, providing insights on best practices and improvement opportunities.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Legal Studies, Sustainability, or a related field (equivalent work experience will be considered).
3-4 years of experience in compliance, corporate responsibility, or regulatory risk management.
Background in the apparel, textile, or consumer goods industry is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical business processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in multicultural environments.
Ability to work independently and collaborate across global teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; additional experience with compliance management tools is an advantage.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch or German is a plus.
