The Role
Tameside Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electric Vehicle (EV) Project Manager to lead and manage the rollout of electric vehicle infrastructure across the borough. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development and implementation of EV projects that will contribute to the region's sustainability and climate change goals.
As an EV Project Manager, you will oversee the successful implementation of a substantial programme of electric vehicle infrastructure in collaboration with external stakeholders, including Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and other local authorities. Your expertise will shape the strategy and execution of EV projects, helping to build a cleaner, greener future for Tameside.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an EV infrastructure strategy for Tameside Council, ensuring effective governance structures are in place.
- Contribute to the Greater Manchester Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) programme, including site selection, procurement, and establishing Tameside's preferences for infrastructure types.
- Lead consultation efforts regarding the EV strategy and implementation across the borough. Establish and chair a cross-departmental working group with key Council officers to determine optimal locations for EV charge points.
- Obtain Council approvals for chosen EV charge point sites, including political and legal approvals (TROs).
- Collaborate with TfGM, charge point installers, legal, and finance teams to procure and deploy infrastructure within budget, on schedule, and in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Contribute to design approvals, construction programmes, and stakeholder engagement with TfGM and other key partners.
- Attend project meetings with TfGM and other relevant stakeholders.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree level qualification in a related field Proven project management experience, ideally within the automotive or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of electric vehicle technologies and infrastructure, with a keen understanding of industry trends.
- Experience working with external stakeholders, particularly within the public sector and local government.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- A passion for sustainability and making a positive impact on climate change.
