The role
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of hearing-impaired people? Do you have experience in education-related casework and a deep understanding of special educational needs law? Our client is looking for a dedicated and skilled Education Appeals Specialist to join their high-performing team.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality advice and guidance to deaf people, and their families, focusing on achieving positive outcomes. You will be responsible for preparing and representing families in special educational needs (SEN) appeals, supporting families through complex casework, and working closely with professionals to ensure the best outcomes.
This role can be either part-time or full-time, with a minimum of 21 hours per week.
What you'll do
- Deliver high-quality, specialist casework and advice to families, focusing on education appeals and legal advice for deaf people.
- Prepare and represent cases at Tribunals, mediation meetings, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Work collaboratively with professionals and families to ensure a person-centred approach in all casework.
- Provide expert advice on legal and policy matters related to SEND, ensuring families are informed and supported throughout the process.
- Gather evidence, prepare legal documentation, and represent families in hearings and meetings.
- Work as part of a remote, agile team to deliver advice, training, and support to families, professionals, and colleagues.
What you'll need
- Experience in special educational needs (SEND) law and casework, with a proven ability to advise and represent clients in Tribunal hearings and dispute resolution meetings.
- Excellent understanding of legal processes and the ability to navigate complex cases.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team.
- A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of deaf children and young people.
- Strong digital skills and willingness to learn agile principles.
- A proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and professional development.
- Strong digital skills and a sound understanding of agile values & principles.
- A criminal record check / DBS disclosure (if offered the position).
