Join a global leader in storage handling solutions, renowned for its cutting-edge auto storage retrieval systems. With a diverse range of products implemented across numerous countries, our company consistently enhances efficiency in storage, whether in ambient or cold storage environments. We are seeking to augment our Engineering team by introducing a Design Engineer. As a Design Engineer, you will spearhead multiple design projects, from conceptualisation and drawing creation to full design approval. Collaborating closely with Production, your role will ensure seamless support throughout the manufacturing and testing phases, guaranteeing top-tier quality and on-time delivery.
As a Design Engineer, you will develop design solutions that surpass customer expectations in terms of cost, quality, and schedule adherence. You will meet designated schedules and budgets for all assigned work, thoroughly research and comprehend internal and external specifications and regulatory requirements, generate 3D designs (using SolidWorks) and manufacturing drawings to bolster the company's product range, create detailed on-site installation drawings, and develop comprehensive procedures for subcontracted teams involved in the installation process. Additionally, you will perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure compliance with equipment specifications, create and update build procedures in alignment with company standards, seamlessly integrate intricate hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems into mechanical designs, compile comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) for Procurement Departments, Production and Installation teams, and adhere strictly to company protocols for Design, Documentation, Engineering Change Management, and Production flow. Although the primary focus of the job involves computer-based tasks, occasional hands-on involvement may be required. The role is predominantly located in Clontibret; however, there may be occasional travel requirements to sites for confirming measurements and installing new systems. You will also provide engineering and technical support to Production, Sales, and After-Sales Departments, support product testing both at the factory and on-site, participate in customer meetings, and ensure strict compliance with our ISO 9001 Quality Management System and company health and safety procedures.
To succeed in this role, you will need proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, prior experience with PDM and ERP systems, and knowledge of workshop equipment, such as lathes and mills, and the ability to design such equipment. Essential skills include proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, the capability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, self-motivation with excellent time management and prioritisation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a team-player attitude, and the ability to foster positive relationships with suppliers.
In return, we offer an attractive salary (negotiable depending on experience), access to the company pension scheme, private medical insurance (after 12 months), service rewards, on-and off-the-job training depending on skills and qualifications, and the opportunity to work in a wide range of industries. The job is full-time (40 hours per week) with flexible working hours: Monday - Thursday 8:15 - 17:30, Friday - 8:15 - 15:00. The work location is in person (no remote).
