Job Description

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head (Academic) to play a vital role in the academic and strategic leadership of Streatham and Clapham High School (SCHS).

As Deputy Head (Academic), you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the school, with particular oversight for teaching, learning and academic outcomes.

SCHS strives to offer a broad, balanced curriculum built around the needs of our students. Working with the SLT Academic team and other senior leaders, you will help develop and promote a forward-thinking whole school strategy, ensuring a rich, ambitious and relevant academic curriculum for students across the age range.

Using your excellent analytical skills, you will seek innovative and proactive ways to implement an excellent academic provision to ensure our pedagogic and academic outcomes continue to be a leading example in the sector.

In addition to this, you will also oversee the Heads of Department and the SENDCo, along with support staff who contribute to the school's academic provision.

About you

We are looking for a well-qualified individual with strong management experience and excellent leadership skills. You will be a successful academic practitioner, with previous teaching experience across the full age range, including A Level.

Experience of strategic planning or of curriculum evaluation is also essential, along with extensive experience of curriculum leadership and management, ideally gained as a Head of Department, Key Stage Co-ordinator or an equivalent senior role.
