Job Description
Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a qualified dental nurse to join our friendly practice team at Corn Market Dental Practice. We are located in the beautiful town of Wimborne, adjacent to the historic Wimborne Minster. We are looking for a kind, caring and professional dental nurse to join our friendly team. The practice is fully private, offering a wide range of treatments including Implants, Orthodontics, Endodontics and cosmetic dentistry.
Salary: depending on experience.
Hours: 24.75 hours per week
Key responsibilities & duties:
Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures including implant surgery, Endodontics and Orthodontics
Preparing and sterilising instruments and equipment following HTM guidance and protocols
Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
Set-up and prepare the surgery for the type of patient and treatment planned
Clean and sterilise all equipment and working surfaces to the required standards at the end of each session
Ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste
Escort patients from the waiting room to the surgery, confirming the medical history and bringing any changes to the attention of the dentist.
Provide clinical assistance under the supervision of the dentist.
Continually evaluate the needs of patients and dentist and deal with them promptly and efficiently
Assist the dentist in the completion of patient records
Monitor and maintain stocks as necessary and liaise with the stock nurse regarding any shortages of materials
Ensure that all necessary laboratory work is returned and ready for each session
Follow all practice policies and procedures and patient confidentiality
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with the dental team
Take reasonable care for own and others' health and safety
Comply with all GDC and CQC requirements
Academic qualifications:
Qualification in Dental Nursing - NEBDN or NVQ 3
Dental Nurse Registration with the General Dental Council
Post qualification experience
IT literate, knowledge of the SOE would be an advantage
Ability to provide a portfolio of documented evidence of CPD attained
Work experience and skills:
Empathetic
Excellent communication skills
Computer literate
Confident in their role
Reliable
Excellent customer service skills with a good telephone manner
Willing to learn and expand their skills
CQC knowledge
Sound knowledge of HTM
