Job Description

Job Title: Data Governance Lead
Location: Leeds, on site 2 x per week
Salary: Up to £54,000 pa

In this newly created Data Governance Lead role, you will be developing and implementing data governance policies, standards, and procedures to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and compliance. Reporting into the Head of Data you will oversee data quality initiatives, manage data risks, and collaborate with internal teams to promote a data-driven decision-making organisation. Your expertise will be instrumental in establishing a robust data governance framework that supports the business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Establish data ownership and stewardship roles across the organisation.
  • Define and enforce data quality standards and metrics. Implement data quality monitoring and reporting mechanisms. Lead and develop master data management initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations. Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information.
  • Establish guidelines for data creation, storage, usage, and retirement. Manage the data life cycle from inception to deletion. Implement data retention policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs. Educate and empower users on data governance practices. Build strong relationships with IT and business teams.
  • Monitor data governance framework to oversee data assets. Oversee data governance committees and working groups. Monitor and report on data governance performance.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in Data Governance and/or Data Quality leadership roles
  • Knowledge of Data Governance tools to manage metadata, data lineage, and data quality.
  • Understanding of MDM methodologies and technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
