Job Description

Data Engineer - Amsterdam

Duration: 12 months + Possible Extension
Location: Amsterdam

*Urgent 12 Month Contract - Role hiring now!*

This is a *Amsterdam* based role with an excellent immediate start within a Global Technology Client that is working on their largest digital and technological transformation program.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Data Pipelines Development:

    • Design and develop scalable, flexible, and high-performance data pipelines.
    • Solve data-related issues and prevent future occurrences by addressing root causes.
  2. Data Quality Ownership:

    • Ensure data quality in core datasets and pipelines, ensuring end-to-end accountability.
    • Experiment with new tools to improve data performance, scalability, and quality.
  3. Tools and Integrations:

    • Develop tools to enhance company-wide data quality.
    • Build integrations between various on-premise and cloud-based services.
  4. Self-Organizing Tools:

    • Contribute to tools that help the analytics community discover data, assess quality, and explore data usage.
  5. Monitoring and Outage Management:

    • Build monitoring systems for data pipelines and handle outages when they occur.
  6. Technical Implementation and Maintenance:

    • Implement and maintain data processing services and storage systems aligned with the Data Governance Framework.
    • On-call responsibilities may be required.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Developers: Continuous cooperation to ensure data products interact with other systems.
  • Product Managers: Continuous cooperation to co-define product requirements.
  • ML Scientists/Engineers: Frequent collaboration to align with ML/AI strategy and ensure system requirements are met.

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Education: Master's degree.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant job knowledge and experience.

  1. Software Systems Design:

    • Evaluate architecture solutions with cost, business, and tech requirements in mind.
    • Understand the impact of system changes or new systems on existing infrastructure.
  2. Critical Thinking:

    • Solve complex problems using analytical, lateral, and logical thinking.
    • Constructively critique and improve plans and ideas.
  3. Continuous Quality Improvement:

    • Identify process and system improvements to boost efficiency and effectiveness.
  4. End-to-End System Ownership:

    • Own services end-to-end, monitor performance, and manage deployments.
    • Reduce business risks through best practices and continuous delivery frameworks.
  5. Effective Communication:

    • Deliver clear, structured information tailored to the audience.
    • Achieve mutually agreeable solutions by actively listening and adapting communication styles.
