Data Automation Engineer (Python and SQL)

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for x2 Data Automation Engineer (Python and SQL) for a 6 months (with possible extension) contract based in London (Hybrid - 2 times per week in the office).

Purpose of the Role:

As Data Automation Engineer (Python and SQL) you will focuses on automating current manual processes and improving data validation within our client's banking systems. You will play a crucial part in transforming the client's data management practices, ensuring data integrity, and enhancing overall efficiency.

Responsibilities of the role:

As a Data Automation Engineer (Python and SQL) you will be responsible for:

• Automate data validation and processing in Excel.
• Implement structured validation for banking data.
• Analyze and map existing data systems to identify and resolve data issues.
• Collaborate with team members to automate manual processes and improve data workflows.
• Work with Python and SQL to develop solutions.
• Potentially create dashboards to enhance reporting.

What we require from the candidate:

• Experience in data analysis or a related field (finance experience is a plus).
• Strong skills in Python and SQL (experience with pandas, polars, or similar libraries is preferred).
• Expertise in data validation and automating data processes.
• Ability to work with Legacy technologies and adapt solutions to an evolving system.
• Proficient in data quality management, data pipeline development, ETL, and database design.
• Experience with test-driven development, Git, and CI/CD.
