Job Description

The Company

This company is a market leader in sustainable biomass crop solutions, dedicated to delivering high-performance Miscanthus hybrids to increase supply of biomass to industry. They are seeking an experienced and dynamic Crop Development Manager to join the team in Lincolnshire and lead the technical development and bringing to market of thier cutting-edge Miscanthus hybrid product pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development

  • Curate and develop the new Miscanthus hybrid product pipeline, bringing licensed genotypes to market.
  • Collaborate with international technical partners and suppliers to advance processes such as seed harvest, cleaning, priming, coating, pelleting, storage, packaging, and distribution.
  • Refine planting methods, machinery, and protocols for optimal crop performance.

Partnership Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with nursery partners in Spain, Poland, and the UK to ensure a reliable supply of planting materials.
  • Establish partnerships with research organizations and technical collaborators to support innovation.
  • Support and follow international distribution partners and biomass projects.

Project & Grant Management

  • Develop and execute crop development plans aligned with company goals.
  • Identify and manage strategic technical partnerships.
  • Oversee grant applications and manage InnovateUK-funded research projects effectively.

Field Operations

  • Manage trial sites in Lincolnshire, as well as other locations across the UK and Europe.
  • Coordinate and supervise field trials to validate and enhance product performance.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in bringing new seed-based crops to market.
  • An extensive network of suppliers and partners in the seed industry.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a hands-on, practical approach.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally to nurseries, partners, and academic meetings.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in other European languages (preferably Spanish and/or Polish) is high desirable.
