Introduction
Lewisham Council is committed to supporting and building the capacity of its voluntary and community sector organisations. This an exciting new role leading on the capacity building of Lewisham's voluntary and community sector (VCS) that promote emotional and physical health and wellbeing for children and young people (CYP).

What's the role?
The Community Development Officer CYP role is a dynamic new role within the community development team to support the council's strategy of strengthening the capacity of VCS organisations. The role will focus on supporting organisations that promote and deliver emotional and physical health and well being services for children and young people.

This role is temporary 24 months.

This role will:

  • Lead on organisational development support to enable organisations to grow and thrive including; governance, funding, volunteering, quality assurance, policies and business planning.
  • Develop collaborative relationships and partnerships, identify and develope relevant training programmes and work closely with our infrastructure delivery organisations to signpost organisations to available resources.
  • Establish a Forum for organisations to develope partnerships and collaborations, exchange knowledge and encourage peer networking within the sector and with local and national stakeholders and partners.
  • Work closely with the Strategic Youth Offer Manager, a range of commissioners, grant funders and service delivery partners within CYP and other departments within the Council as well as the Lewisham's Care Partnership (LCP).

What we're looking for

  • A highly creative, proactive and innovative thinking individual with excellent relationship building and organisational skills. You should be an experienced infrastructure practitioner with evidenced working knowledge of children and young people's services and provision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen and understand the needs of individuals and organisations to deliver bespoke and innovative solutions.
  • You will have excellent organisational and time management skills and be able to prioritise your own projects and workload.

Location
The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Special conditions

Salary
£47,628 - £49,638 per annum (PO3).

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
