Communications Manager - Emergency Control Room

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, requiring at least three days per week on-site in the control room. Flexibility is essential, as on-site presence may vary based on operational needs, and occasional travel to our Bridgwater site will be required.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic leadership and management to the emergency control room team, ensuring high levels of performance and professionalism.
- Oversee the handling of emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Manage and support control room supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and resilience.
- Ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, and national policing standards.
- Monitor and evaluate performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and external agencies to enhance service delivery.
- Lead in crisis situations, ensuring effective decision-making and resource deployment.
- Drive innovation in technology and operational processes to enhance efficiency.
Essential:
- Proven leadership experience within an emergency services environment or a high-pressure control room setting.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams and liaise with external agencies.
- Experience in managing performance, implementing improvements, and leading change initiatives.
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and police control room operations.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a police or emergency service leadership role.
- Understanding of modern control room technologies and digital communication platforms.
- A solid understanding of Project Management principles and methodologies
- Professional qualifications or certifications in emergency management or leadership.
