Job Description

Synchronicity Earth's mission is clear: Bringing conservation to life through our work, championing effective approaches and increasing funding for Earth's overlooked species and ecosystems and the communities working to protect them.

Synchronicity Earth is an ambitious, fast-growing, UK-based charitable foundation focusing on global biodiversity. Since our founding in 2009, we have distributed over £17.5M in grant funding to well over 150 organisations protecting biodiversity in sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Melanesia.

We are recruiting a new, two-person, executive management team, to drive the organisation forward on its next phase of development. The Co-Executive Director (Finance & Operations) and Co-Executive Director (Programmes & Engagement) will have experience in growing organisations, be innately creative and innovative and have a commitment to protecting and restoring our natural world.

By joining, you're not just taking part; you're weaving your own story into a future that's brighter and sustainable for all.

Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Co-Executive Director (Programmes and Engagement) will oversee the design, integration, and delivery of Synchronicity Earth's conservation programmes, cultural engagement, and capacity-building initiatives. They will work closely with the other Co-Executive Director (Finance and Operations) on all governance and strategic planning aspects of the organisation. Given our recent growth trajectory there will be a significant focus on guiding the team to meet our ambitious targets, balancing opportunities and resources and continuing to build a resilient and adaptive culture firmly based on our values. In addition, we continue to look to develop and grow funding opportunities and ensure the most strategic deployment of such funds with the ability to report on our impact and to analyse this impact to generate learning.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the wonders of our natural world, has experience in taking action to halt and reverse the biodiversity crisis and is eager for the opportunity to lead the programmatic and engagement work of a growing, dynamic international funder and conservation actor. The successful candidate will bring an innovative, strategic mindset and have a deep understanding of the role of cultural contexts in addressing biodiversity loss. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing, mission-driven organisation and contribute to transforming the way biodiversity is valued and conserved. In summary, we are looking for a transformative leader. Perhaps most importantly is your commitment to our work and our values centred on trust, fairness, flexibility, creativity, flourishing diversity and care.

We aim to apply the same dedication to a flourishing diversity of people and wildlife on our planet through our programmes to our working environment and strive to make this environment open and inclusive for everyone. We recognise that the environment sector (and our organisation, as part of it) does not reflect the diversity of the global community it serves (particularly in terms of ethnic diversity) and has a long way to go to be as inclusive as possible to ensure people from all backgrounds and personal situations feel welcome in the workplace.

Perrett Laver will conduct an executive search process in parallel with the public advertisement of the role. Longlisted candidates will be invited to interview with Perrett Laver in mid-late November and the Selection Panel will subsequently meet to decide upon a final shortlist for the post in early December, following which, formal interviews with Synchronicity Earth will take place in mid December and the second-round interviews will take place in early January. If you require any reasonable adjustments to assist you in the selection process, please advise us of these so that we can make appropriate arrangements.
