Job Description

Are you passionate about changing the lives of young people and helping children's homes to develop the support they provide?

Would you be able to act as a critical friend to our clients and provide detailed and analytical reports that focus on the safety and wellbeing of children?

Job Summary:

For us, Regulation 44 is not just about quality-assuring the paperwork in the home; it should be an opportunity to immerse yourself in the lived experiences of the children and the adults supporting them. Visitors ensure they spend quality time with the children to build a trusting relationship, enabling them to robustly assess their safety and well-being.

As part of the Regulation 44 process, we provide our homes with a critical friend. Our visitors engage with the same process, taking on board feedback from our own quality assurance procedures and actively engaging in reviews with the providers about how we can develop our service.

Responsibilities:

We believe in matching the experience and skills of our visitors to the specialisms and needs of our clients. We value your input during this process and do everything we can to promote a functional relationship thereafter. Once allocated to a children's home, short breaks service, or residential school, you will be responsible for carrying out monthly or half-termly visits. While you will do this independently, our managing director will be available for ongoing support and will provide you with regular feedback and learning points. Your remit will be to determine whether the home or school is effectively safeguarding their young people and promoting their wellbeing. The reports you submit will need to be an objective account of your findings and provide insight and evaluation.

There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in some of our consultancy work too. This is varied but may include assignments such as carrying out interviews and safer recruitment checks for our clients, conducting mock Ofsted reports, and completing location risk assessments. Furthermore, if you have a particular passion for something that either our new or existing clients would like, we will happily provide you with the opportunity to pursue it.

Qualifications and Skills

You will have extensive knowledge of the 'Social Care Common Inspection Framework', the 'Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015', and the 'Guide to the Children's Homes Regulations, including the quality standards'.

The ideal candidate will be diligent and must have excellent communication and report writing skills.

As a Regulation 44 visitor for Changing Outcomes, you will have the ability to build up a rapport/relationship with young people and act as a critical friend to the provider.

Previous experience successfully managing a residential children's home or service inspected by Ofsted is essential.

Access to a car and full driving licence is needed for this role. The role is based throughout Suffolk/Essex and the surrounding areas including London, and so extensive travel is required. We want what works best for our team and have the -flexibility to consider full-time, part time or self-employed contractors to help support our growing list of clients in this area.

Mileage is paid for all work-related journeys, along with the cost of any public transport used.

If you meet the above criteria, please attach a copy of your latest CV, or for an informal discussion, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
