We are AMS. We are a global total workforce solutions firm; we enable organisations to thrive in an age of constant change by building, re-shaping, and optimising workforces. Our Contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) is one of our service offerings; we act as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provide professional interim and temporary resources.

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Capital Management Project Consultant for a 9-month contract on a remote first basis (candidates must be UK based).

Purpose of the Role:

Our client are seeking a skilled and proactive Financial Analyst to join a greenfield programme of work within a Capital Management initiative. This programme includes multiple workstreams focused on redeveloping customer value models, aligning methodologies with BASEL 3.1 requirements, and enhancing cash flow and credit risk models across the organization.

In this role, you will evaluate the alignment of different financial management methodologies across franchises, focusing on areas such as credit risk modelling, treasury management frameworks, and cash flow forecasting models. This includes harmonizing approaches to assessing probability of default (PD), liquidity management, and capital adequacy in line with regulatory standards like BASEL III/III.1. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand the unique models used in Retail and other business units, ensuring that they are compatible and aligned where necessary. By conducting audits and analyses, you will identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in the methodologies used across different franchises and provide actionable recommendations for better integration and alignment to improve financial stability and risk management processes across the organization.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Review and assess financial risk management methodologies, including credit risk, treasury management, and cash flow forecasting models, across multiple franchises. Ensure alignment with industry standards such as BASEL III/III.1 and internal best practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders across Retail and other business units to understand their models and gather detailed requirements for alignment. Facilitate discussions to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources, diving into financial models and processes to compare approaches and identify gaps or inconsistencies in methodology usage across franchises.
  • Conduct thorough audits of the various models in use, comparing methodologies between different franchises. Provide detailed analysis to highlight similarities, differences, and opportunities for integration.
  • Based on your findings, propose actionable recommendations for improving alignment and consistency in financial methodologies across the organization.
  • Document the findings of your analysis and audit processes, providing clear and concise reports to stakeholders outlining the current state of alignment, potential risks, and suggested solutions.
  • Assist in the decision-making process by presenting your analysis and recommendations to leadership, helping shape the overall strategy for capital management and financial risk across the business.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and regulatory changes, ensuring methodologies are updated as needed to comply with evolving standards and best practices.

This role involves a combination of deep analytical work, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking to ensure that the organization's financial risk management practices are unified and optimized for long-term success.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, audit methodologies, and conduct detailed comparisons across different business units. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills are essential.
  • Experience working with BASEL III/III.1 or similar regulatory frameworks is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, understand their needs, and drive consensus on methodology alignment.
  • Experience working on large-scale programmes or projects, ideally within a Retail Banking environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing financial models and conducting audits to ensure accuracy and consistency across franchises.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex data and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

This role requires a results-driven, analytical professional who can navigate complex financial systems and collaborate effectively across different areas of the business to achieve alignment and drive improvements.
