Job Description
Job Title: Buyer - Procurement Specialist
Hourly rate: £40/hour Inside IR35
Location: Filton, Bristol
Role Overview:
- We are seeking an experienced Buyer to contribute to all sourcing activities throughout the contract life cycle.
- The role involves managing tendering, contract negotiation, cost reduction, and change management to ensure the best purchasing conditions and value delivery.
- You will be the focal point for contracts related to various commercial aerospace programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize customer value while minimizing total cost of ownership and risks.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and set up procurement activities for products, ensuring the contractual framework is secured with suppliers.
- Manage the tendering process and contract negotiations to achieve optimal purchasing conditions in alignment with company requirements and procedures.
- Monitor contracts throughout their life cycle, ensuring suppliers meet agreed performance metrics across all dimensions (logistics, support, quality, cost, etc.).
- Act as the main point of contact for contracts, managing day-to-day supplier relationships and ensuring smooth project execution.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Programme, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, etc.) to coordinate all activities related to contracts.
- Assist in defining and implementing commodity strategies, perform market analysis, and support global sourcing and offset initiatives.
- Work with Financial Controlling to provide accurate financial forecasts, managing financial risks and opportunities for suppliers/contracts.
- Ensure effective risk and opportunity management is Embedded in day-to-day operations.
- Identify and manage opportunities for counter claims to be charged back to the supplier.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Procurement experience is essential; candidates with strong business knowledge and understanding of procurement processes will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in working within a multi-functional environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence internal customers.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including experience engaging with senior management.
- Strong contract management and negotiation capabilities, with a focus on optimizing value and minimizing risk.
