Braking and Steering Control Systems Engineer - Commercial Aircraft

6 months Contract
Inside IR35
Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced engineer to support the development and maintenance of braking and wheel steering control systems for a major commercial aircraft program. This role involves working on high-profile aircraft currently in service, contributing to landing gear system development, and ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

You will be challenged with diverse engineering tasks, supporting a global network of customers while delivering integrated technical solutions. The role requires both independent work and close collaboration within a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with engineering teams to develop technical solutions for braking and steering control systems.
Ensure design review deliverables lead to a mature and certifiable product.
Incorporate best practices and lessons learned from previous programs.
Support verification and validation (V&V) planning throughout the design life cycle.
Address in-service technical issues by developing concept designs, technical notes, repair instructions, or specifications.
Effectively manage stakeholders, providing clear reporting and communication.
Identify risks, implement mitigations, and leverage opportunities to meet program goals.
Utilise emerging digital technologies to enhance operational reliability.
Communicate effectively, engaging with colleagues and external partners in a timely manner.

Required Skills & Experience:

5-10 years of experience in landing gear system engineering or a related field.
Understanding of processes and Verification & Validation (V&V) requirements.
Strong problem-solving skills, balancing short-term operational needs with long-term engineering solutions.
Experience supporting airworthiness, manufacturing, and field service queries.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise.
Experience managing subcontractors is a plus.
