AWS DevOps Automation Engineer

On behalf of Companies House, we are looking for a DevOps Automation Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based REMOTELY.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team at Companies House, where you will play a crucial role in transforming our automated testing approach.

As a DevOps Engineer specialising in test automation, you will support the migration of our testing infrastructure from Java/Selenium and BDD frameworks to a cutting-edge Node.js Playwright/TypeScript stack. Your role will involve integrating this stack with Docker and BrowserStack Automate, all running within Concourse CI pipelines. You will work closely with our test engineers, advocating for an "automated first" mindset and ensuring seamless integration of Playwright testing within Concourse CI. Your efforts will be instrumental in elevating the quality and reliability of our services.

Key Responsibilities:

*CI/CD Integration: Design, implement, and maintain the integration of Playwright testing within the Concourse CI pipelines, ensuring robust and efficient automated testing processes.

*Collaboration: Work closely with test engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to foster an automation-first culture and enhance overall product quality.

*Tooling and Infrastructure: Manage and optimise Docker environments and BrowserStack Automate integration for cross-browser testing.

*Quality Assurance: Advocate for best practices in testing and automation, ensuring that quality is embedded in every stage of the development lifecycle.

Essential Technical skills:

*Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on test automation.

*Docker

*Concourse CI (or similar)

*AWS

Some experience of any of the following would also be beneficial:

*Experience with Node.js, npm, TypeScript/JavaScript and Playwright

*Unix & shell scripting

*Terraform

*Docker compose

*Publishing to npmjs

*Makefile

*AWS - ECR, ECS, CLI, S3

*Working with Node shared modules

*SonarQube
