Associate Professorship(s) in Industrial Engineering The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for associate professorship positions in industrial engineering. An associate professorship is a full-time permanent position, and associate professors divide their time evenly between research and teaching activities. The successful candidates will become part of the EngTech research section. The starting date is 1 August 2025 or as agreed upon. Job description At BTECH, we have a strong focus on company collaboration, which is reflected in our research and study programmes. For this reason, we expect that you, based on a background in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or similar, conduct applied research within a subset of the following disciplines: Manufacturing: Mechanical engineering or production automation related to physical production and production technologies. Product lifecycle management: Relationships between product design, product development, production and recycling/decommissioning. Complex manufacturing systems and layouts, including machining, assembly, modularization, automation, stocking, and digitalization. Manufacturing and global supply chains, including topics such as reshoring and nearshoring. General considerations with respect to manufacturing such as quality, compliance, sustainability, standards, and regulation. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to our students' educational development. For this reason, you are expected to teach and supervise students at all levels, including supervision of PhD students. Our study programs include, among others, an MSc in Engineering (Technology Based Business Development) as well as two Bachelor of Engineering programmes in Forretningsudvikling (Business Development; cyberphysical systems/product and system development) and Global Management and Manufacturing (production and manufacturing systems). Candidates should therefore be prepared to teach courses in one or more of the following topics: Operations management, supply chain management, management of technology, and technology-based business development. Your qualifications Employment as an associate professor requires a PhD degree and a strong academic background as assistant professor or equivalent. Furthermore, we prefer applicants with the following qualifications: A proven record of strong international research, as evidenced by publications in highly reputed international journals. A track record of excellence in teaching on topics relevant for our study programmes. A clear, well-developed and viable strategy for future high-level research. A track record of good citizenship in the wider academic community combined with a commitment to contributing to a vibrant work environment at our department. A commitment to sharing insights and knowledge with the broader society and prioritizing dialogue with practitioners. A commitment to teaching that provides the students with relevant competences as well as the ability to reflect critically. A willingness to engage in external research funding activities. The required qualifications are elaborated below: Applicants must have produced and published research in addition to the Phd thesis and must demonstrate progress in the form of research publications that go beyond the PhD thesis either thematically, theoretically, methodologically and/or empirically. Applicants must have at least three articles published or accepted for publications in high standard, international, peer-reviewed journals. A significant part must have been produced after finishing the PhD degree. Furthermore, significant publications must have been produced within the previous 5 years. Applicants must document significant teaching experience. Hence, the applicant must have taught several courses, preferably at different levels and in a range of topics. 6-8 courses are normally a minimum requirement. Applicants must have some experience in performing research cooperation, research management and knowledge dissemination, possibly editorial experience and possibly experience from collaborative research projects. Terms of employment The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish). The job content and qualification requirements are described in further detail in the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities. Non-Danish speakers are required to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the Danish language within three years. The department will grant time off from teaching to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.
