Job Description

About the role

Clearing & Payments department supports the bank in a back office capacity, supporting the bank's operational processing for various banking product, working with retail branches and Front office teams to support London Branch and Subsidiary customers. As an Assistant Payments, within the wholesale payments team, you will be responsible to support Wholesale Payment customer transactions, assisting with the accurate and efficient operational processing of a multitude of UK and international wholesale payments, as well as collaborating with various teams and departments to hastily but vigilantly resolve a variety of payment and banking queries in accordance with Bank of China Policies, SLA's and relevant regulations. This is a permanent full time position.

Key responsibilities

  • Accurate and efficient processing of a range of Wholesale Customer payments and Investigation cases
  • Investigation and resolution, and where necessary escalation of operational processing issues, general payment queries and processing returns of inapplicable funds
  • Clear communication with relevant Bank of China London departments, global branches and external Financial Institutions to resolve payment queries
  • Oversee all GUPP Payment System queues in GB1 (Bank of China Ltd London Branch)
  • Assist with the testing and implementation of new systems and system upgrades when required
  • Ensure the capturing of statistical information for reporting
  • Completion of weekly and monthly reports
  • Escalation of any unidentified operational risks
  • Regularly review, revise and suggest updates to business procedures
  • Delivery of training to colleagues and new joiners with completion of training plan

Requirements

  • Degree educated preferably in Business or related discipline
  • Solid academic background with a minimum of 3 A levels or equivalent with GCSE's in Mathematics and English
  • Ideally some experience of Swift and Payment Processing or banking operations role
  • Fast learner who's adaptable to changes
  • Advanced MS Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and detailed oriented
  • Team player
