Job Description

Tellmi is an innovative, award-winning digital mental health service which provides a safe, anonymous space for anyone aged 11 and over to discuss mental health topics like anxiety, relationships, and more. Combining peer support and counselling with professional oversight, we help users build emotional resilience and foster meaningful connections.

Our evidence-based platform has been shown to reduce loneliness and build confidence. Studies by University College London and the Anna Freud Centre found that 79% of users feel less alone and 71% found new ways to help themselves. Tellmi's mission is to make mental health support accessible and empowering for all.

Your Role:

As the assistant Finance and Business manager you will support the Co-CEO in all aspects of financial operations and business management. You will help ensure that robust financial processes are in place and followed. Tellmi is a small company, you will work closely with the Co-CEO and have plenty of opportunity to develop your career by taking on more responsibility as the business grows.

What You Will Do:

  • Financial Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, provide insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare financial presentations for management.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining departmental budgets.
  • Prepare variance analysis reports comparing actual results to budget and forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Prepare financial forecasts based on business trends and market conditions.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable:
  • Review and process invoices for payment.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with customers on overdue payments.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
  • Manage payroll and monthly payments
  • Compliance and Internal Controls:
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
  • Monitor internal controls and identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation to external auditors.
  • Develop a set of Standard Operating Procedures for accounting, finance and business management.
  • Business Management:
  • Submit claims and reports to grant funders such as Innovate UK
  • Manage insurance renewals
  • Assist with impact reporting to funders
  • Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Certified or seeking certification for CMA
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Xero)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Familiarity with GSuite tools (Docs, Sheets, etc.) is beneficial.

What does success look like in 12 months

  • You are confidently managing the day-to-day financial operations.
  • You are responsible for drafting the quarterly financial reports for the board of directors and shareholders.
  • You have played a major role in documenting the financial and business procedures used within the business.
