We are looking for a highly motivated Applied and Regulated Development scientist with good lab-based skills to join our Applied and Regulated Development team.
The Details
Our Applied and Regulated Development team is responsible for the development, optimisation, and verification of products to be used for clinical applications. Reporting to the Associate Director, Translational Development - Infection, you will play a pivotal role in developing products in the infection space.
Hands-on experience in four or more of the following areas is required:
- Experience in molecular biology including NGS, PCR, qPCR, isothermal amplification and standard nucleic acid handling techniques.
- Characterisation of DNA/RNA and proteins.
- Execution of biochemical/biophysical assays (e.g. enzyme activity assays and fluorescence-based techniques).
- Experience with assay design, development and optimisation.
- Experience of working within a quality management system e.g. ISO13485.
- Experience handling BSL organisms and cell culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate high standards of experimental work, analytical skill, systematic problem-solving ability and a strong work ethic.
- Development, optimisation and verification of preparation workflows.
- Development of biochemical and biophysical assays.
- Testing / optimising new components prior to release.
- Operation of our Nanopore range of sequencing devices and associated software.
- Data analysis (from basic data manipulation to more complex bioinformatic pipelines).
What We're Looking for
The successful candidate will hold a degree in physical, chemical or biological sciences and will have experience of working in a development team. The candidate should have a strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
This role will suit someone willing to learn and who is motivated to achieve results.
Training will be given and, as such, a willingness to learn and develop is essential.
This role is available either in Norwich or Oxford.
