Job Description

Our client, the national charity for children in care and young care leavers are looking for someone with an understanding of vocational opportunities and progression routes for care experienced young people to join their new Propel into Work service.

Advice & Support Officer for Employability
Salary and Benefits: £32,000 pro rata (£19,200 actual)
Hours: This role is part-time (21 hours per week). Some flexibility on working pattern, they just request that main working days involve working 11am - 5pm, as these times are most popular for 121 support sessions with young people.
Location: They are currently hybrid working: their team is largely home-based with some in-person attendance and meetings expected at their central hot-desking location in Old Street, London. In addition, they envisage significant direct work and engagement with external partners to take place within Manchester and Greater Manchester, so ability to travel easily and frequently in the region is required.

They offer a wide range of employment benefits to all Team Members including generous annual leave, flexible working from the start, life insurance, and a rewards package which includes a Health Cash Plan. They're proud that they support their staff and want to see everyone who works there thrive in their personal and professional life.

About the Role

They are looking for someone with an understanding of vocational opportunities and progression routes for care experienced young people to join their new Propel into Work service. You will deliver advice, support and information for care experienced young people towards vocational learning and employment opportunities, and their supporting adults, via 1-to-1 support and employability workshops, resources on their Propel into Work webpages, and by connecting young people with volunteers to offer further career insights. Whilst this role will support care experienced young people in different parts of England, they will have a particular presence and visibility in Manchester and Greater Manchester, through attending events, some in-person delivery, connecting with local organisations, and engaging with volunteers from local corporate partners.

The deadline for applications to be received is 9am on Monday 21st October.

Interview details

Interviews will have two parts:

  • A session with young people;
  • A panel interview with their staff.

Interviews may be held virtually using a video calling app (Microsoft Teams or Zoom) or in person at their location in Central London. If access to technology/WiFi is difficult for you, please contact them so they can assist in making suitable arrangements.

  • Staff panel: Wednesday 6th November 2024
