Job Description

Social Worker - Adults with Learning Disabilities Team

Ongoing contract

Rhondda

£35 per hour umbrella company

We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Social Worker to join the Complex Learning Disability Team in Rhondda Cynon Taff, based at Ty Elai, Williamstown, Rhondda covering the East of the County i.e Pontypridd to Aberdare / Hirwaun area. Full time hours are preferable but happy to consider applications from those offering part time hours. This is an opportunity to join an experienced and supportive team. Pay rate £35 per hour via Umbrella company. The team work remotely with one office day per week. You will need to be a car driver to access clients throughout the service area.

The team is a Specialist Team working with adults with a learning disability who also have other complexities associated with their conditions, e.g. ASD, communication difficulties, challenging behaviour, additional physical/mental health needs. Social Workers in the team have active involvement with long-term cases. They work very closely, in a multi-disciplinary way, with members of the Specialist Learning Disability Health Teams and other professionals. They support service users living in a range of settings, e.g. in residential/Supported Living placements and those living within the community with their families. Social Workers in the team are involved in undertaking Assessments, Reviews and Care Planning and need to have the enthusiasm to play an active role in delivering a high quality service to our service users.

The post will also entail protecting service users from abuse and neglect and where intervention is required you will be expected to provide a proportionate and timely response working in partnership with our Safeguarding Team.

You would be expected to work within the legislative framework (e.g. Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2015) along with demonstrating an understanding of risk management and how to work in a strength-based, outcome focused way.

Regular professional supervision is provided and you will also have opportunity to become involved in peer group supervision. Agile Working equipment and IT support is provided to all staff.

To apply for this role, you will need to hold -

  • A minimum of 6 months experience of working in the UK as a registered social worker
  • A relevant Social Work Qualification
  • Registration with Social Care Wales / Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or be happy to apply for a DBS
  • 3 Years of referencing
  • Driving license with access to a car
