We are looking for a highly motivated person with excellent communication skills who recognises the value of volunteering - both to the organisation and the individual.
Location: Cambridge / Hybrid
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

With ambitious goals in place, volunteers play a crucial role in delivering this charity's vision, and they are now looking for a dedicated leader to build and manage their volunteer programme.
About you:
As the Volunteer Programme Lead, you will develop and deliver a strategy that grows the charity's volunteer community, fostering engagement and commitment from volunteers across the East of England. You'll play a pivotal role in recruiting and supporting volunteers, building fundraising committees, and helping the charity generate income through a variety of volunteer-driven activities. From coordinating charity hubs in hospitals to organising volunteer opportunities at community events, you'll be instrumental in ensuring volunteers feel valued and empowered to make a real difference.
You will be a motivated and organised individual with experience in volunteer management and a deep understanding of best practices in the volunteer sector. Your ability to build strong relationships, inspire others, and manage multiple priorities will be key to the success of this role. A passion for community engagement and an interest in fundraising are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a volunteer fundraising strategy to grow the charity's volunteer base and maximise their impact.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for key roles, including fundraising, event support, and front-of-house positions at charity hubs within the hospital.
- Build fundraising committees across the East of England and manage volunteer participation in local community events.
- Deliver training and induction programmes, ensuring volunteers are equipped to carry out their roles effectively and feel fulfilled.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the charity and hospital to identify new volunteering opportunities.
- Coordinate volunteer and supporter thank-you events, ensuring that all volunteers feel appreciated and recognised for their contributions.
- Produce regular reports to showcase the impact of volunteering, including income generation and cost-saving metrics.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in recruiting and managing volunteers.
- Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management.
- Experience in developing strategies that deliver positive outcomes.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage the operational needs of the organisation alongside the needs of volunteers.
- A passion for fundraising and community engagement.
