Job Description
For a global customer in Walloon Brabant, I am searching for a freelance Oracle Engineer responsible for installing, configuring, administering, maintaining and managing the global Oracle RDBMS infrastructure within the company on Linux environments.

Major accountabilities
  • Coordinates and administers Oracle RDBMS installations, configurations, troubleshooting and maintenance on Linux OS.
  • Assists with development of Oracle RDBMS deployment, support and maintenance procedures on Linux OS.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complicated issues within the server operating system, the Oracle RDBMS, applications, affiliated software (ex: backup) and Data Center Infrastructure environment. Support the 3-level escalation support as required.
  • Assists with assessing and implementing vendor supplied upgrades, patches and virus updates as related to Oracle RDBMS environment.
  • Work and partner with internal and external contractors and support personnel to ensure proper transitioning and on-going support of operational tasks
  • Incident management. Ensure that all calls are resolved within defined SLAs and all calls to be correctly allocated or escalated in line with defined escalation procedures.
  • Assist project and architecture teams to understand Oracle RDBMS and server requirements and define appropriate Hardware and software configurations in line with the Data Center and Server standards
  • Utilization and maintenance of software tools to monitor and manage Oracle RDBMS systems, capacity and performance.
  • Performs system testing and associated regulatory validations of Oracle Rdbsm environment
  • Stay aware of new technologies and maintain knowledge. Suggest and help realisation of improvement and/or new implementation based on redesign, problem solving, new technologies or features to improve the Data Center and server team agility, performance and reliability
Scope:
  • Assist in the design, planning and implementation of the Global Oracle RDBMS environment and develop and maintain configurations, deployment and maintenance utilities, documentation, procedures and practices.
  • Develop procedures required to maintain and support group and sites needs and ensure this documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Assist with defining and maintaining capacity and disaster recovery plans and facilities for this environment.
  • Expected to assist with group projects, and is responsible for efficient, accurate execution of goals in accordance with quality metrics, target dates and budgets.
  • Exhibit a high degree of technical competence in Oracle RDBMS environments.

Experience
  • 5 years demonstrated work experience in Oracle RDBMS Environment.
  • Experience in regulated and process focused computing environment preferred
  • Experience in Hardware (VMware) preferred
Database administration:
  • Deep understanding of Oracle database architecture, including memory structures, process architecture, and Storage structures.
  • Proficient in Oracle Database versions from 11g upwards and their new features.
  • Advanced expertise in tablespaces, schema management, indexing strategies, and partitioning.
  • Experience with Oracle Advanced Compression, Partitioning. Backup and Recovery
  • Expert knowledge of Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) for backup, restoration, and disaster recovery.
  • Proficient with Flashback Technologies (e.g., Flashback Query, Flashback Table).
  • Planning and implementing comprehensive backup strategies to meet RTO/RPO requirements.
Performance tuning:
  • Expertise in SQL tuning, execution plans, and analyzing performance bottlenecks.
  • Skilled with Oracle performance tools: AWR (Automatic Workload Repository), Ash (Active Session History), and ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor).
  • Proficient in optimizing database Storage, indexing, and caching mechanisms. High Availability and Scalability
  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard for disaster recovery and high availability.
Security management:
  • Proficient in implementing database security policies, including user roles, privileges, and profiles. Database Migration and Upgrades
  • Expertise in performing in-place and out-of-place upgrades while minimizing downtime. Oracle Ecosystem Tools
  • Proficient with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Skilled in Oracle SQL Developer
  • Must work well in a team-orientated, highly dynamic environment

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Able to effectively communicate both written and verbal in English and French
