Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team working across two very different National Trust sites - Fenton House and 2 Willow Road. Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people and we're looking for an enthusiastic and pro-active Visitor Experience Officer to help us deliver exceptional experiences for every visitor and volunteer.

This is an annualised role with a general working pattern of 4 days a week, 9-5.30pm. During the visitor season March to October, your working days will be Thursday to Sunday. When closed, working days can be flexible and Monday to Friday.

The advertised salary is inclusive of the Inner London Weighting allowance of £4,465 per annum (prorated if you're part-time)

Please include a cover letter with your application.

Interviews for this role will be held on 16 December 2024.

What it's like to work here:

You'll be both part of a small but agile onsite team and part of a wider London team. Working with us will give you a valuable opportunity to build networks, consult and share practices with many regional colleagues.

Fenton House is a substantial 17th-century house with far-reaching views across the city, and home to world-class collections of decorative and fine art. By contrast, 2 Willow Road, also in Hampstead, is a 1930s modernist home, designed and lived in by Ernö Goldfinger and his family.

Working across both London sites presents opportunities to be involved in a range of exciting and forward-thinking initiatives.

What you'll be doing:

As Visitor Experience Officer, you'll lead visitor operations during the open season for great service. Working alongside the rest of the team, you'll plan and deliver engaging and meaningful experiences that welcome and inspire all our visitors and volunteers.

You'll love what you do and enjoy sharing your knowledge and inspiring others. You may be encouraging visitors to take a closer look at a particular collection, checking presentation around the sites or helping write copy for web pages and social media.

You'll be a visitor day duty manager on a rota with colleagues, opening and closing Fenton or 2 Willow Road and being on call to support volunteers as they welcome and guide visitors.

You'll manage the volunteer welcome team, and support volunteers to ensure their experience feels mutually beneficial.

You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.

Who we're looking for:

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • used to multiple deadlines and managing your own workload
  • skilled in organisation and planning, with a good eye for detail
  • good at talking to, and getting on with, all kinds of people
  • a hard-working and committed team player
  • comfortable with IT: Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media
  • experienced in producing interpretive materials, such as displays and exhibitions, and marketing or promotional materials
  • familiar with health and safety procedures

The package:

The National Trust has the motto 'For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It's important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
