Visitor Centre Manager - Fixed Term Maternity Cover
Salary: Circa £31k per annum, salary negotiable depending on experience
Hours: 37 hours per week
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Location: Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Centre, Winlaton Mill, Gateshead

Their Trading business consists of their Greenhouse Business Centre based in Annfield Plain and their Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Centre, based in Winlaton Mill. As their Visitor Centre Manager you will be looking after their Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Visitor Centre.

About the role

Their Heritage Visitor Centre is nestled in the beautiful Derwent Valley and such a beautiful location to work from.

This position is for fixed term maternity cover, and provides a role where you can apply your experience in a new environment and broaden your skills in a friendly and collaborative team playing a key part in supporting the great work of their Charity. They're excited to share both what you can bring their team and what you can learn from them.

The Visitor Centre Manager will run their successful Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Visitor Centre in Winlaton Mill near Gateshead. This opportunity is fixed term maternity cover position. Their Visitor Centre is an incredibly popular hub for local people and tourists alike. It is also home to their busy Café, specialising in good quality local produce, and a gift shop which showcases local craftspeople from in, and around, the Land of Oak & Iron.

The Visitor Centre Manager has overall responsibility for the daily management of their Heritage Visitor Centre and Cafe leading their team of staff and volunteers to ensure a high quality, professional and profitable business, catering, room hire and an events service.

About you

They are ideally seeking someone who has experience of working in a similar role managing a successful visitor centre including provision of catering, hospitality, events, and resource management. You will be customer focussed and passionate about the importance of excellent customer service as well as being a great people manager with the ability to lead and motivate a successful team.
