VAT Accounts Assistant

Join The TeamOur client is a dedicated charity organisation based in Doncaster, and we have an exciting opportunity for you to join their team. You will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team, to maintain and oversee our financial records, ensuring the key focus of VAT compliance is running smoothly. This position is a temporary to permanent placement, with your probationary period working through Hays Accountancy and Finance.
Your New Role
As part of our team, you will:
• Manage accounts and liaise with Treasury Advisors, funding partners and auditors.
• Monitor capital expenditure and record fixed assets.
• Prepare and input journals, assist with year-end procedures, and maintain ledgers in compliance with regulations.
• Create and maintain cash flow forecasts, reconcile fixed assets, and ensure compliance with conduct codes.
• Your key function within the team will be ensuring all VAT returns are fully compliant and reconcile with the larger accounts
What You'll Need to Succeed
To thrive in this role, you should ideally have:
• Extensive knowledge of VAT
• Previous experience in the public sector and knowledge of account preparation.
• Experience with accounting software and an AAT qualification.
• A motivated personality and a proactive approach to new challenges.
• Strong interpersonal skills to maintain and build relationships.
• You MUST have a DBS for this role
