Flat Panel User Terminal Architect - Satellite Communications

We are seeking an experienced Flat Panel User Terminal Architect to lead the design and development of advanced ground terminals for a next-generation multi-orbit satellite constellation. This is an onsite role based near Betzdorf, Luxembourg, with the opportunity to shape cutting-edge satellite connectivity solutions for European and global users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end architecture of flat panel user terminals with phased-array or metamaterial antenna technologies.
  • Define and drive system requirements across RF Front End, beamforming electronics, modem subsystems, and mechanical/thermal design.
  • Guide technology selection, system integration, and design-for-manufacture processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to bring prototypes to production.
  • Perform architectural trade-offs, signal quality assessments, and compliance with industry standards (eg, 3GPP NTN, DVB-S2X).
  • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

Your Profile:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years' experience in satellite communications or high-frequency RF systems.
  • Proven expertise in beam-steered antenna systems (analog/digital phased arrays) and modem architecture.
  • Solid understanding of thermal/mechanical challenges in compact RF systems.
  • Experience with subcontracting electronic unit manufacturing and design-for-test (DFT) processes.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Fluent in English; other languages an asset.
  • Eligible for SECRET-level security clearance (EU/ESA/NATO equivalent).
  • Willing to work at least 66% onsite; travel required as needed.

Location: Betzdorf region, Luxembourg (commutable from Luxembourg City, Trier, Arlon, and surrounding areas).
