Due to the end of term of the current incumbent, the University is seeking a new Governor, to join the Board of Governors, and additionally act in the capacity of Chair of the Risk and Audit Committee. Governors are appointed for an initial term of three years.
The Board of Governors are responsible for the overall governance of the University, including assurance that the conditions of registration set by the Higher Education regulator are being met. The Board of Governors act in a non-executive capacity and are not involved in day-to-day operations. In addition to duties expected of all University Governors, the Chair of the Risk and Audit Committee also plays a key role in risk management, assurance of financial accounting and statutory reporting, and ensures oversight of internal and external audit activities.
The University are seeking applicants with proven experience of audit, risk management and/or finance, ideally in higher education (or with knowledge of the sector). Given the non-executive nature of the role, a proven experience of working effectively with executive/ leadership teams is also essential.

The overall time commitment for this position is approximately twenty-five days per year (a mix of face-to-face and online/remote meetings). This is appointment is of a public service nature and is therefore not remunerated. Reasonable expenses to cover travel and other direct expenses will be reimbursed.
