Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit some experienced Housing Officers to join the TA Allocations team. Your new role
You will deliver a responsive and customer focused Allocation & Application Service and ensure BCC's Housing Allocation Scheme is administered appropriately and within legislative requirements, provide expert advice and information on BCC's Housing Allocation Scheme and housing registration process to a range of stakeholders.
Conducting housing application assessments and ensuring decisions are made in compliance with relevant service policies and legislation. As well as this you will be managing the process of shortlisting, allocating and matching properties on BCC's letting system.
It's important that you support the service to monitor nomination acceptances and refusals, including help ensure nomination agreements are being administrated in full accordance to the terms agreed.
What you'll need to succeed

In order to succeed in your application, you will need a background in Social Housing - this could be a housing officer, neighbourhood officer, homelessness officer etc. You will need knowledge of Legislation and Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act.
This role requires an Enhanced DBS, which Hays will put into process for you free of charge. Driving and business insurance are needed for this role.
You will need to have an understanding of the issues faced by homeless people, including adults with multiple complex needs and/or no recourse to public funds. A basic knowledge of housing options is needed for this role.
In addition, this role will be an ASAP start,. Before starting, you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks. On registration please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.
What you'll get in return

This role is a full-time, temporary position based in Birmingham. The role is £12 per hour, with a premium rate of £13.45 (PAYE) for the first 13 weeks, which increases to £13.20 per hour, with a premium rate of £14.79.
Due to the council going through a period of transition, permanent opportunities may be available.
