Job Description

We're looking for a Technology Assistant Engineer to join our Transportation team based in Birmingham. In this role you'll be working as a key member of the Kier Technology Self Delivery Team across a number of schemes and maintenance contracts throughout the country. A current full UK driving license is essential for the role as site visits will be required.

Location: Birmingham - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required

Contract: Permanent Fulltime with some flexibility on hours

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per year + annual car allowance + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Technology Assistant Engineer, you will be a highly motivated individual with exceptional communication skills, capable of delivering effective solutions while managing your time efficiently to meet project deadlines. The role will further develop skills to excel in the installation, supervision, commissioning, site acceptance testing, and maintenance of technologies on the strategic road network. These technologies include, but are not limited to, CCTV, emergency telephones, stop vehicle detection systems, MIDAS, message signs, and signals.

Your day to day will include:

  • Ensuring that all work is carried out to current standards
  • Preparation of reports and documents as necessary
  • Collaborate with key supply chain partners, other areas of Kier and with our client to deliver exceptional service levels

What are we looking for?

This role of Technology Assistant Engineer is great if you are able to:

  • work with coloured wiring and must be able to identify them by sight
  • read drawings and schematics and use an array of tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical parts
  • work independently without close supervision
