We're working with a well-established, growing accountancy firm based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, seeking an experienced and personable Tax Manager to join their growing team. The Role:

As Tax Manager, you will oversee the firm's tax compliance and advisory services across a varied portfolio of corporate and personal tax clients. You'll manage and review returns, provide tax planning advice, and support both partners and junior staff. This is a client-facing role with scope to grow and shape the tax offering within the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a mixed portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients
  • Review tax returns and computations prepared by junior staff
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services (including IHT, CGT, R&D, SEIS/EIS, and restructuring)
  • Handle complex HMRC enquiries and investigations
  • Liaise directly with clients to advise on tax-efficient structures and opportunities
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior team members
  • Work closely with the partners on strategic tax issues and business development
  • Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and ensure compliance
  • Requirements: CTA qualified (or ACA/ACCA with strong tax focus)
  • 5+ years' experience in a UK accountancy practice tax role
  • Proven track record in managing tax compliance and providing advisory services
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation across both corporate and personal tax
  • Excellent communication skills and client-facing confidence
  • Experience supervising staff and reviewing tax work
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work autonomously
