This school offers a robust Sociology and Psychology curriculum, particularly at Key Stage 5, where A levels in both subjects are among the most popular choices for 6th form students. These courses follow the AQA syllabus, with Schemes of Learning that are continually reviewed and updated to ensure they remain relevant and tailored to the needs of the students. The curriculum is designed to enable students to apply key concepts and theories to real-world issues in contemporary society, fostering a broader understanding of the world around them. Students are encouraged to engage in debate, construct well-reasoned arguments, and critically assess competing viewpoints within both Sociology and Psychology.

In the vocational curriculum, our client currently offers BTEC Health and Social Care for students in Years 12 and 13, with Year 12 students working towards the Level 3 BTEC National with Pearson. The programme aims to equip students with essential skills for higher education, such as analysis, research, evaluation, and report/essay writing. Additionally, they have successfully introduced the T Level in Education and Early Years, now in its second year. The small but highly engaged Year 12 and 13 cohorts are enthusiastic about studying this dynamic subject, which prepares them for direct work with children in early years settings. Students split their time between classroom learning focused on child development and learning and industry placements where they put theory into practice, with NCFE as the exam board.

The school values the fresh perspectives and innovative approaches that more experienced staff bring to both teaching methods and curriculum development.
