Job Description

Site Engineer

A national house builder have a requirement for a Site Engineer on a Freelance basis (until the end of the year, possible extension), to provide support on new build housing developments in the North West region.

About the Site Engineer role

Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be the link between the site team and the technical team providing technical guidance for new build housing developments.

Duties to include:

  • Assist the Technical and Commercial Departments in issuing tender drawings to contractors, assessing them upon return and then formally awarding the works.
  • Review engineering designs to ensure their cost effectiveness and build ability
  • Co-ordination of as-built surveys
  • Agree issue with external bodies (within remit of cost and programme) e.g. technical approvals of S104, S38
  • Instructing Consultants to vary or amend designs (within remit of cost and programme)
  • Acceptance of quotations for service connections (within remit of budget) Work within budgets set by others and report any potential overspend
  • POS, S38, S104 adoptions. Inspect road and sewer works form commencement to formal adoption by Local Authority; ensure works are carried out within an agreed budget and timescale.
  • Obtaining plot to postal addresses
  • Obtaining service connection quotations
  • Prior to legal completion of all new homes, ensure the appropriate driveways and footpaths are completed to agreed standards.
  • Answer queries from site on engineering issues

Experience required:

  • Good engineering knowledge from previous experience of working within the House Building Sector (essential)
  • Experience providing technical support/supervision on roads, sewers, earthworks, foundations and services (essential)
  • Understanding of Section 38 and Section 104 agreements (essential)
  • HNC or above in Civil Engineering (desirable)
  • Track record in delivering building control approvals
  • Experience of managing external consultants
  • Demonstrate background in preparing schedules of work
  • Keen eye for detail and ability to process technical information
  • Comfortable using engineering related software like AutoCAD, PDS and Microdrainage

Pay - day rate to be agreed, dependant on experience.
