Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: To: £60,000 per annum (Dependant upon skills and experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Location: Walsall/Cambridge

South Staffs Water has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Capital Investment project management office to lead and support a professional and trusted team of with the delivery of our investment programme.

The role requires a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who is self- motivated, can plan their own time accordingly and manage a variety of projects, simultaneously, to mitigate project risks, control supplier costs and maximise value by enhancing efficient ways of working.

The Role

The lifecycle of this role will see the successful candidate engaged on the project from design stage through to project completion, offering a wide range of opportunities to broaden their knowledge and experiences of the Water & Construction industries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Administering NEC3/NEC4 Contracts end to end from procurement through to final account
  • Capturing changes during the lifecycle of a project and coordinating with the client
  • Authorising supplier work valuations and allocating costs to the correct budgets
  • Budget forecasting and analysing variances to forecast
  • Management of Circa. three employees
  • Ownership of Capital Investment Delivery Projects
  • Trending performance measures set for our delivery partners
  • Commercial reporting at month end to internal and external stakeholders
  • Owning the supplier invoicing process to maintain cash flows
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis
  • Monthly site visits to regulate and sign off any Early Warnings
  • Travel between Walsall and Cambridge offices

What You'll Need

  • The successful candidate will have:
  • A full UK driving license
  • A degree level education or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Construction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as being fully conversant with Microsoft Office
  • The ability to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Confidence to lead in monthly commercial review meetings
  • A comprehensive understanding of the NEC3/4 form of contract
