Senior Data Engineer
Salary: £60-£70k plus a rewarding benefits package and an annual bonus of 12.5%
Location: Manchester 2 days a week on-site

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy complex applications, software components, platforms, and services.
  • Create and maintain robust ETL pipelines to ensure efficient data processing and quality.
  • Apply data design principles across all stages of the software development life cycle.
  • Collaborate within project teams to meet service level agreements and maintain project timelines.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers to foster a supportive team environment.
  • Continuously monitor and improve operational metrics, proactively identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Stay current with required skills and training to align with organizational values and compliance standards.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or SQL.
  • Experience with relational databases including MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Familiarity with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark, Pandas, and Apache Zeppelin.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, including Octopus, Jenkins, and TeamCity.

Desirable Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes for deployment in data engineering environments.
  • Strong experience in ETL processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding technical teams, with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional roles such as data engineers and project leads.
