EngineeringUK, a charity that works to drive change so more young people from all backgrounds choose engineering and technology careers is looking for a Senior Careers Inspiration Manager. The role holder will work in partnership across the STEM community to lead our work to provide relevant, inspiring and accessible careers content, activities and resources that inspire more, and more diverse, young people to choose engineering, technician, tech and green careers. They will lead a cross-sector working group to develop STEM careers resources for a range of audiences; embed an understanding of engineering and technology careers across all our activities for schools; ensure careers guidance professionals and teachers understand the breadth of engineering and technology careers and pathways into them; and share careers expertise with stakeholders to support their activity. The role will include some line management.

About the role
The Senior Careers Inspiration Manager will work across EngineeringUK and with the wider STEM community to lead our work to provide relevant, inspiring and accessible careers content, activities and resources that inspire more, and more diverse, young people to choose engineering, technician, tech and green careers. This will include: leading a cross-sector working group to develop STEM careers resources for a range of audiences; embedding an understanding of engineering and technology careers across all EUK Education activities for schools; ensuring careers guidance professionals and teachers understand the breadth of engineering and technology careers and pathways into them; and sharing careers expertise with stakeholders to support their activity. The role will include some line management.
The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK. We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a minimum of 2 days (or 40%) a week in the office and the option for a flexible start and end to the working day in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames. Person specification
Essential Skills / Competencies:
- Experience working in a careers education/guidance role, ideally in (or directly with) a school, college, careers hub, apprenticeship provider and/or employer
- Good understanding of the UK careers landscape and an existing network within it Understanding of the policy environment around careers education
- Knowledge of engineering and technology careers, the routes into those for young people and the channels via which to reach young people with careers information
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to write for a range of audiences
- A collaborative approach, bringing stakeholders together to co-create and work in partnership to achieve our vision
- Commitment to testing and improving the impact of work
- At least two years line management experience
- Commitment to our mission and values, you will be able to engage with our values and work in a way that supports our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
Education/level of experience:
- Careers guidance qualification or equivalent professional experience.
