This vacancy presents an exceptional opportunity within the highly regarded and successful Cavendish Education Group to help shape the future of a brand-new SEN school. Leith Hill School is set in the Surrey Hills AONB, on a 45-acre site. The new school will open in September 2025 offering predominantly LA funded SEN day places for children aged 7-16, most of whom are likely to be able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC/SEMH and associated needs.
We are offering an exciting position for an enthusiastic, dedicated and progressive practitioner who has achieved the National Award for SENDCo to join us from February 2025, or sooner. This dynamic role will involve a variety of responsibilities, including assessing suitability for pupil admission, supporting pupils with individual needs, overseeing the creation and implementation of individual plans to enable pupils to access the curriculum, and regularly reviewing pupil progress and targets. You will also liaise with external agencies and provide pastoral support to both pupils and their families, all with the goal of enhancing children's learning experiences and their holistic progress.
This is a demanding yet highly rewarding role where you will be an integral member of the senior leadership team demonstrating outstanding professional development and collaboration.
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience of high quality, adaptive SEND teaching ideally across the secondary age range within a mainstream or SEN provision.
- Has led school improvement initiatives as part of the senior leadership team and is committed to achieving and maintaining the highest standards.
- Possesses strong safeguarding knowledge to ensure a safe and protective environment for all pupils in the school.
- Has experience as a dynamic and inspirational leader who will support and collaborate with the school's multi-disciplinary teams.
