Job Title: School Chef

Location: Hazel Cottage School, Fazakerley, Liverpool

Salary: £21,840.00 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday (Working hours TBC)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We are looking for an experienced, outstanding School Chef to join our team at Hazel Cottage School in Fazakerley, Liverpool.

About our school

Hazel Cottage is a new school meeting the needs of autistic pupils aged 4 - 11 years who may have additional needs.

We are situated in Fazakerley, Liverpool. Our school is a Grade 2 Listed building which has been refurbished and re-designed to the highest standard to meet the needs of our wonderful pupils. At Hazel Cottage everything we do is centred around the individual needs of each pupil attending our school, with the aim that every learner is able to fulfil their individual potential and thrive. Alongside a broad, exciting and memorable curriculum, we focus on developing core life skills such as communication and social interaction, sensory processing and emotional regulation. We work towards every pupil being as independent as possible when they move on to the next stage of their education.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults. As part of Outcomes First Group, we are leading our sector in setting and delivering new approaches that provide measurable outcomes for those in our care.

Job duties

To be responsible for the planning and preparation of high-quality food and catering service to the school.

To manage and supervise all kitchen staff.

Key responsibilities

  • To plan menus for the school with reference to the dietary needs of our pupils

  • To undertake the monitoring of stocks by date rotation, portion control and quality and in accordance with the budgetary controls set

  • To set up and clean down the kitchen areas before and after day-to-day use

  • To ensure that necessary preparation is undertaken for the day/weekly demand/needs of the school

  • To be observant of the need to minimise waste

  • To provide suitable food to staff/pupils with special dietary requirements

Qualifications Required

  • Food Hygiene Level 2/3 minimum

  • chef/cooking qualifications desirable
