SAP Technical Project Manager - (S/4 HANA Migration from SAP ECC to S4HANA Private Cloud Edition)

The People Tech SAP Technical Project Manager is responsible for the governance and project management of projects within the People Tech team across the People Department and impacting functional teams across the organization.

The Technical Project Manager role is partnering with the various teams within the People Tech team and People Department to support, and proactively work with them, to facilitate the work occurring between them and the business units and centralized functions they support. They help the teams to scope and plan the projects by helping to document the project goal, KPIs, roadmap and main deliverables, including technical solutioning.

The Technical Project Manager ensures that the projects across People Tech teams are managed in a consistent manner, whilst working with the business units & central functions within company to build engagement and where needed governance over decisions needed for work to be signed off. This role requires dealing with external vendors, Implementation Partners, Third Party service providers and managing external stakeholders.

SAP S/4HANA Migration Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables for the migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA Private Cloud Edition (PCE).

  • Develop and maintain project plans across various streams, including:

    • Risk and dependency management

    • Resource allocation

    • Milestone tracking

  • Coordinate between technical teams, functional teams, vendors, partners, and business stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with SAP methodologies and project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall).

  • Lead project management activities and oversee the successful delivery of the end-to-end project life cycle.

  • Understand architectural and technical aspects of the project, ensuring smooth implementation by managing inter-team dependencies.

  • Oversee risks, issues, dependencies, go-live plans, and cutover planning & delivery.

  • Apply change management processes and tools to support adoption of project-related changes.

  • Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, working collaboratively with business unit partners and corporate support teams.

  • Provide clear and regular project updates to all stakeholders.

  • Track and report progress with well-documented project plans and reports.

  • Ensure a structured project closure and smooth handover to business-as-usual operations.

Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: 8+ years of relevant work experience, including technical program management.

  • Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA HR, specifically in Time Management and Payroll.

  • Expertise in SAP architecture, ABAP development, SAP Basis, and SAP Security.

  • Knowledge of SAP Integration (IDocs, BAPIs, Web Services) and Data Migration tools (LSMW, SAP Migration Cockpit).

  • Strong skills in:

    • Project management and planning

    • Risk and change management

    • Problem-solving and root cause analysis

  • Excellent influencing and communication skills, particularly with senior stakeholders.

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to work under pressure and manage ambiguity.

  • Good business acumen and understanding of organizational challenges.

  • Certifications (preferred): PMP, Agile Project Management, or equivalent.
