About Us:

Looking after people as you look after legal and statutory requirements.

From births and deaths to weddings and citizenship ceremonies, people mark some of the most important events of their lives at Kensington and Chelsea Register Office. It's our job to serve the public by meeting all legal and statutory requirements but also by delivering these services with the highest levels of care, compassion and professionalism.

The Role:

As a Registration and Ceremonies Officer, you'll represent the council during events that have enormous personal significance for participants. As this is a diverse borough, which brings together people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, you can expect a challenging and highly varied workload.

Specifically, you'll be responsible for the registration of births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages, civil partnerships and the naturalization of British citizens at Town Halls and other approved locations throughout the borough. You'll also officiate at public events such as weddings and citizenship ceremonies. A range of other related administrative duties will also fall within your brief. You will be part of a rota including some weekends, bank holidays and evening work.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

This is a legal role that requires considerable emotional intelligence, as many of the circumstances under which you will work are pressurised and highly charged. You must be able to understand and apply complex information and pay considerable attention to detail, all while providing efficient and caring customer service. Along with excellent communication and public speaking skills, you're likely to have previous experience of working with a registration service, including an NVQ City and Guilds qualification in registration, or equivalent, which will be highly welcomed but is not essential. What is essential is excellent customer service, organisational and administrative skills, and the passion and ability to deliver civil registration services professionally and competently.

In return, you can expect a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave, and bank holidays.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. We reserve the right to extend or close this vacancy early without warning subject to the volume of suitable applicants.

Application process

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.

You should describe how you meet the person specification requirements for the position you are applying for in Section G of the application form.
