Quantity Surveyor (Belfast)

Your new company
Due to significant growth a leading Belfast Main Contractor have exclusively retained the services of Hays Recruitment to source an experienced Quantity Surveyor for key works. This company is an award winning UK construction and fit-out contractor, who have built their enviable reputation on the back of their holistic approach to projects, seeing each building as a single entity rather than an assembly of packages. Their meticulous, self-imposed dedication to high quality finished works is reflected in their belief that great teams create great buildings. With a number of bid successes on commercial projects, they require a Quantity Surveyor to add strong commercial acumen to their existing team.

Your new role
The successful candidate will have direct experience with Design and Build contracts and will be responsible for all commercial aspects including; subcontract, administration, cash flow, risk and opportunity management, cost control and change management. Due to the location of work UK travel will be essential. Reporting directly to the Commercial Director you will oversee the cost management of projects up to £20m.

What you'll need to succeed
You will hold a third level qualification, and will have a minimum of three years experience in a Quantity Surveying Role, ideally with a main contractor. Demonstrable experience of assisting in the pricing of construction projects and of working knowledge of forms of contracts will be a necessity. You will have a high level of computer literacy, and will have experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite. Additionally you must demonstrate the ability to read and accurately interpret drawing and technical specification. As a person you will be well organised with good communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
